General Questions:

1. What makes GO1099 different from all the other job sites?

Ans. We are focused on helping professionals with executive level experience on a local  and personal level. Additionally we take an extra step to mentor our professional members and in many cases have them participate in experienced consulting groups, groups that can help provide the quality that Businesses desire in contractors. Next we have built our organization with local members, professional members local to the business members that provide the projects and assignments. We feel that this local community of businesses and professionals has the ability to network, build trust and personal relationships, and achieve a high level of community responsibility.

We also provide added value services to our businesses and professionals.

2. Why is your web site regional? Why not go nationwide?

Ans. See question 1 on why we feel we are unique. Go1099.com is focused on building local communities of businesses and professionals. Our first community is based in Arizona in the Phoenix area. We will be replicating this model in additional cities and markets. Stay tuned for a Go1099.com operating in your area.

3. What is the meaning of “1099"?

Ans. The term 1099 refers to the Internal Revenue Service Form 1099 which is required to be issued to any individual, not an employee, that performs services for a business and whose payment is not covered by a W-2 Form. In effect Form 1099 covers payment for contracted services while the W-2 Form covers payments as an employee.

Professional Questions:

1. For my entire career, I’ve always worked for someone else. I am very good at what I do and have great confidence in my abilities. Although I’d like to try my hand at being an independent consultant, I’m a bit nervous. How can you help me to take that “jump”?

Ans. You’ve come to the right place. We specialize in mentoring experienced professionals to make this transition. First, some of the networking groups provide some level of support and we encourage you to take advantage of these groups.

Next, we offer email counseling with answers to any question of this kind to help you. This is provided at a very nominal monthly charge without any reasonable limit on your questions.

Should you require face-to-face counseling and mentoring, we will refer you to some of our partner consulting groups who can provide higher level mentoring for a fee. We can also refer you to SCORE counseling that may be able to help you without fees.

2. Once I take that “plunge” and begin accepting assignments, I’m sure that I’ll have lots of questions along the way. Will there be someone available to help me out, or am I on my own?

Ans. Again we offer email counseling to answer questions. Or you may find that when you avail yourself of the mentoring services of one of our partner consulting groups, you may wish to continue to be part of that group and receive any needed help from them.

3. Like many seasoned professionals, I have vast experience in more than one field and more than one industry. Will your site allow me to look for work in multiple fields and industry sectors? Will I have to pay more for this ability?

Ans. We have anticipated your needs and allow you to list up to 6 different resumes without additional charge. All of this is included for the price of one professional membership.

4. How can a professional post his or her information to respond to Project Postings and also have my resume posted in Go1099.com for Employer Members to see?

Ans. Simply register and login as a Professional Member. Your Professional Membership includes free Email Mentoring/Counseling from SCORE Counselors. Face-to-face counseling is available through our partner consulting groups and we can provide a list through our email counseling for you to check out.

5. I am a professional without current medical benefits. Do I need to offer my services without requiring such benefits?

Ans. It is the intent of Go1099.com to offer to businesses, professionals who can work as independent contractors and consultants and accept assignments at fixed hourly rates or negotiated project prices. As a subcontractor, you need to establish a rate that will allow you to fund your needs for insurance and other expenses, keeping in mind that such rates are always negotiable and subject to competition.

Go1099.com does offer paid options on health insurance through our Resource section. These include information on setting up your own Health Savings Account together with high limit insurance coverage. You are free to check these options. You may also have specific health insurance questions and you are free to ask such questions as part of our email counseling.

 Business' Questions:

1. We’ve tried other job-related sites in the past, and were somewhat disappointed in the quality of the personnel that we sampled. In many cases, it seemed that their actual experience didn’t match what they had claimed. How can we be assured of their qualifications?

Ans. First we encourage all businesses to rate their experience with a professional. Second we ask our partner consulting groups to be responsible for the quality of the people that they mentor and recommend. These groups are responsible for supplying quality representatives. On the other hand, we encourage all of the professionals registered with us to provide quality work.  2. As a Business I need to reduce my costs of hiring and overhead to operate efficiently in the global economy. How can Go1099.com help me?

Ans. Go1099.com Professionals have many years of experience and are looking for short and long term projects and assignments at fixed price rates without the overhead of medical or other benefits.

Go1099.com takes no role or position in negotiations between a Business and Professional. Businesses can simply post their projects on Go1099.com and Professionals can submit their responses and proposals. Businesses are entirely free to accept or reject any responses/proposals.

3. How can a Business use the services of Go1099.com?

Ans. Simply register, pay a membership fee (for one year if applicable) and login as a Business. You then have a choice of posting your position(s) for a fee and receive free responses or proposals from our Professional members. Or simply review our online resumes and contact any Professional members at your timing.

Go1099.com also provides banner advertising for those Businesses wishing to promote continuing needs for specific professions. This information is also posted in the Business section.
